At 1842 hours , Canton Fire, Canton Rescue, and County Car 4 were dispatched to Fox Hall at St. Lawrence University, for a reported Fire Alarm Activation with smoke in the building per St. Lawrence Safety and Security. Chief McGregor (4-1) checked enroute at 1843 hours. At 1847 hours, Chief McGregor arrived on scene and requested a Second Alarm for a confirmed working fire. Engine 6 was enroute at 1846 arriving on scene within 4 minutes. Engine 6's crew made entry into the building and were met with heavy smoke conditions. Tower 1 was placed on the C Side of the building and set up for any aerial operations that may be needed, while Engine 8 stood by at a second hydrant for the Tower. The fire was located in a kitchenette and Science Library within the building. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by fire investigators from both the St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team and NYS Ofice of Fire Prevention and Control (NYS OFPC).
