It’s a wrap! Fire Prevention Week saw in-school assemblies for first to fourth graders and station tours for Pre-k and Kindergarteners! Students learned about preventing fires, knowing two ways out, having a meeting place, calling 911, and saw what a fully geared firefighter looks like and sounds like. On Thursday afternoon they got to see a full fire response to the Banford School, where Sparky the fire dog made a surprise appearance! Retiring Banford School Principal, Viola Schmid-Doyle was made an honorary firefighter and showcased her nozzle handling skills! On Friday, five lucky Banford students won a ride to school in a fire truck. These kids filled out their home smoke detector questionnaire and submitted it to their teachers by Wednesday. We arrived at school with lights and sirens and the whole school outside to greet them.
