Fire Prevention Week is off and running with school assemblies at both the Sienna School and the Banford school. The fire station is set up for Pre-k and Kindergarten tours. We are visiting the Canton Housing Authority high rises on Riverside Drive and building 1 at Law Lane, dropping off brochures on high rise fire safety and oven mitts to help keep residents safe. Firefighters are working with the kids on the three P's.....Planning, Prevention and Practice. Planning includes having working smoke detectors, having two ways out, and a meeting place. Prevention is not playing with matches, keeping the are around space heaters clear, and staying out of the kitchen when mom or dad is cooking. Practice is practicing home fire drills with the whole family.
