Canton Fire was honored to be able to help the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office (in conjunction with SUNY Canton) with their annual Basic Corrections Officer Training Academy. This academy follows the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) guidelines for basic training for county corrections officers in New York State. The academy is approximately 4 weeks long and teaches subjects ranging from legal issues to defensive tactics. In this academy there are 5 Cadets from St. Lawrence County and 6 from Franklin County.
Assistant Chief Matthew Kroeger was able to teach the NYS Commission of Corrections Fire and Safety module to the academy cadets.
