Hope all is well in the North Country. Recently retired from a local police department after 37 combined years in the business. Still working on broadcast towers and still hope to get to one of the FD's annual dinners. Your web page is first class. Still see many names on the roster that I remember from "back in the day". My e mail address is northstartower@gmail.com. The business web page is northstartowerservice.com.
Be well and stay safe! jJl

I grew up in Canton and went to St. Lawrence. I used to know the codes for the fire signal when I was a kid. Thanks to the entire department for your response to the chapel fire at SLU yesterday.

Words cannot express our appreciation for you quick response to the fire at Gunnison Chapel on St. Lawrence University campus. It is an icon for students, alumni, and faculty who cherish our campus. As one student commented, "It is the statue of liberty for SLU." It is the hallmark of our campus. Your response time was unbelievable and the united effort from so many fire departments is indeed heartwarming. Even 33 yrs after graduation, my eyes tear up at the devastation that occured, and the knowledge of how much worse it could have been had all of you not been there for us. Please convey our deep appreciation to all. Does your department accept donations?
With heartfelt thanks-
Jeff & Joanne Honeywell

Hello,
Great looking website!! I am a captain with Cool Springs VFD in Statesville NC and we are in process of collecting patches for a patch wall at the firehouse. Our fireman's fund bought 500 of our patches to trade with other departments. In the past month of doing this we have collected over 200 patches from over the world and we would love to have your patch. If you could spare or trade a patch for our project, it would greaty be appeciated by the members of our department. If interested please send to

Today I am reflecting with gratitude on the skill and dedication of our Canton Fire & Rescue Squads - who literally make miracles happen !
May you be safe and blessed with the skills you need to perform the work that brings relief and hope to those who call in need. On Labor Day, 1993, prior to the 911 system being established in rural areas of town, the rescue squad responded to a call involving my then 11-month old daughter. She had drowned by putting her face in a bucket of water. Due to the quick-response and expertise of the EMTs on that call, my daughter, Sophie is a college sophomore today. There are no words to express the emotions of a mother whose child is saved. - Elizabeth Dashnaw

Patches and Prayers for Wyatt
Hello,
First off, I would like to thank you for your service to the great people of my home state New York.
I am an Air Force wife, and my husband & I are both from Waddington NY (northern ny).
The reason I am writing you is that my friend's son Wyatt has stage four cancer. He loves all things having to do with fire fighters, his father is one in the Air Force. He collects patches, and I was wondering if there was anything that you could do for this little boy. We are not looking for money, just simply patches. Please take the time to check out his page of Facebook.
Wyatt is a 3 year old little boy who was diagnosed with Cancer... Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma on Feb. 3, 2011. This was the day our world was turned upside down. He is the little brother to Bryson (8) and Callie (5). His Mommy (Angie) stays at home with the kids and his Daddy (Tom) is an Air Force Firefighter.
His love of all things Firemen started very early ;) He loves firetrucks (ladder trucks are his favorite!) He loves firemen, fire stations, Dalmatians...well, you get the picture ;)
People always ask what they can do, as a Mommy, I am always left speechless. I almost always say Pray. Send Prayers for Wyatt, and pass it along. It helps so much to know that so many people are thinking of him on his FIGHT!
A family friend wrote to different fire departments in her area asking for pictures of fire trucks for Wyatt. I was amazed at the response. He loved everything, and a few fire houses sent him their Fire Department Patches...Which he thought was soooo cool ;)
I already had a few of Tom's patches on his wall at home. It got me thinking...how exciting for Wyatt if he got patches from all over the country...or even all over the world!! We would love to get patches from different areas to show him just how many people are rooting for him to BEAT this cancer!
If you don't know any firemen, you can always stop by a firehouse (firemen are very friendly BTW!) Tell them Wyatt's story, and that a fellow firefighter's son looks up to them. Ask them for a prayer and a patch!! :)
We are going to be moving for treatment, but will give you ad address to send them too :) I will update with new address when that time comes!
Wyatt Anderson, Room 366
Ronald McDonald House
5130 40th Ave NE
Seattle, WA 98105
Please feel free to pass this on as well, we believe in the power of prayer :)
Great site!!, keep up the good work and stay safe!!

To the firefighters that responded to the 82 State ST, Canton fire Thursday:
We are the residents of the home that you saved...thank you, thank you, thank you does not begin to express our gratitude. The response and actions of all the departments involved saved the main structure of our home. Finding Le Chien (the white poodle).....well...again, thank you, thank you, thank you is not adequate. The village/town of Canton is blessed to have the volunteers that they do.
